Dux Calendar Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 26, 2026
Dux Calendar ("dcal") is a free, open-source desktop calendar application for Linux and FreeBSD, developed by Dux Labs. This policy explains what data the application accesses and how it is handled.
The short version: Dux Calendar is a local application. Your data stays on your device. We do not operate any servers, and your calendar data, tasks, and credentials are never transmitted to us or to any third party.
Data Dux Calendar accesses
When you connect a calendar account, Dux Calendar accesses only the data needed to provide its calendar features:
- Calendar events — read, created, updated, and deleted to provide two-way sync between your provider and the app, including responding to meeting invitations.
- Calendar list — read to show your calendars and their names and colors.
- Tasks — read, created, updated, and completed to provide the tasks view.
- Your account email address — read once when you connect an account, to identify the account in the app and to determine which invitation attendee is you.
For Google accounts, this corresponds to the following OAuth scopes: calendar.events, calendar.calendarlist.readonly, tasks, and userinfo.email.
How your data is stored
All data is stored locally on your device:
- Calendar and task data is cached in a local database in your XDG data directory.
- OAuth tokens and account secrets are stored in your system keyring (Secret Service / KWallet) when available, or in an encrypted local file otherwise.
Nothing is uploaded anywhere except to the calendar provider you connected, via that provider's official API, to perform the sync you requested.
What we do not do
- We do not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share your data. We cannot — the application has no backend.
- We do not use your data for advertising.
- We do not use your data to develop, improve, or train machine-learning or artificial-intelligence models.
- The application contains no analytics or telemetry.
Google API Services — Limited Use disclosure
Dux Calendar's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Revoking access and deleting data
- Removing an account in Dux Calendar deletes its cached data and stored credentials from your device.
- You can also revoke Dux Calendar's access to your Google account at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions, or to your Microsoft account at account.live.com/consent/Manage.
- Uninstalling the application and removing its data directory removes all remaining local data.
